So, I've added a Merlin banner to the rotating header line up. Used two of the promotional shots because they were huge and shot against a plain gray background which made them beautifully easy to edit with.

Here's a smaller version of it for anyone who's interested and doesn't want to refresh my journal page a million times until it comes up. (Like I had to to do so I could see how it looked.)

Wow. Haven't done this in a while.

Made a few gif animations from the last episode. My plan, when I finally got VirtualDubMod was to make animations after every episode, but Image Ready screws up my computer and every time I tried I ended up having to just restart my computer and forget about it. This time, however, I finally got it to work, even if I had to give up on some of the animations I wanted to make. For some reason Image Ready just didn't like them. *shrugs*

Anyway, here's a preview.

If there's any scene you want me to make a gif out of, just let me know, and I'll try to force my computer to do it. :)

Signed up for [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy. I'm glad it was decided to hold it at a later date 'cause otherwise I probably wouldn't be able to participate. I've got a few short story ideas in mind--one of which is a story following my previous fic Hot Chocolate and Bittersweet, but that story won't actually have Spike in it, though it'd be Spuffy centered, so I don't know. I do know I want to do some art at the least, graphics mostly, though I do have a few hand drawn stuff I haven't scanned yet. So we'll see. It's been a while since I've done anything in the BtVS fandom. I'm starting to miss it.

I'm also dropping by to pimp a community: [livejournal.com profile] spn_animated. Just because I love animated gifs (can you tell?) and there's not a whole lot of members for it yet.

So, after much frustration, I finally found a free program that allows automated screen captures. To celebrate I have some gifs from last night's episode.

Also, if there's a certain scene you want animated from this ep, or you need something in a different size, or something shorter/longer, let me know. Animations are so much easier to make now that I don't have to manually capture every frame.

Edited the Billie Piper header--found a better quality picture to work with. I also added two more headers to the rotating file--both of Eliza Dushku because I couldn't decide what picture to use. We'll just say one represents Faith and the other one Echo, alright? That makes eight headers now (how many do you think would be too many? 'Cause I'm having a lot of fun with these.) so hopefully the page will stop getting stuck on one picture so often now.

I'll probably edit the J2 header; it could look better as well. It was the first header I did so I wasn't sure exactly what I was doing and where I was going with everything. And I think I'm going to throw out the Spuffy one altogether. It looks really bad and grainy compared to the other ones, I'll have to find a better image to use.

Anyone know where I can find some really good quality pics of that pairing? Most of the screencaps I've found aren't that great.

Alright, I think this one is gonna stick for a while. I put a whole lot more work into this one than the others--I've never edited a custom layout to suit me before so it took hours to get it done, going through all that code to figure out what colors codes were for what. Gah. Anyway.

The header still rotates! And I'm much more proud of this one. I only have six images in the rotating file, so I'll probably add more (That's the beauty of this design, every time I get into a new fandom I can just add another header to the file!), maybe even exchange a few since some images got a little grainy after I resized them. But they'll all follow the same design.

So come look! Refresh! See how it rotates. (Wow, I've used this code for months now and I still find it exciting. Haha.) Tell me what you think!

I want an animated icon of Sam slurping that banana daiquiri. That image just cracked me up.

So, I've got like, six banner images made for the layout I want. How many rotating do you think would be too many? 'Cause I'm having so much fun making these.

The basic design is this:

And then I added images from different fandoms and changed some of the color variations, so that when it rotates it sort of looks like only the fandom images change. Here's two examples:

I'm really excited about these, 'cause it's been a while since I've done anything creative in photoshop.

What do you think?
Finally got a paid account on here (so many new icons! Yay!), which means, I want to change my layout. (Yes, I know. Again.) But this time, I'd really like to get away from all the premade ones and have a layout actually designed for this journal. Since, with the paid account, I can do that now. (Again: Yay!)

The problem? I have no idea how to design a layout.

Is there anyone on my flist who knows how to design layouts and is willing to help me out? Or if not that--anyone know where I can find someone to design me one?

I'm already working on my header images. (Yes, images.) I want to rotate header images just like I'm doing for this layout now, only this time I'm bringing all of my favorite fandoms into it. The headers will all have the same designs, but different people as the main image. I'm really liking what I've got, and I know how the coding for the rotating images works, I just have no idea where to even start with the layout.

Help?

I'm being distracted from my J2 fic (which is going very slow at the moment--only 5,000 words and I'm not even done with part 1) by a Supernatural fic. Not a tiny, three hundred word ficlet but an actual fic. With some plot and everything. (Gasp!) And I'm distracted by that by the Headers I'm making with Photoshop. I want to redo my layout, but I can't decide on a header so I just keep making more.

I'm a little spastic and ADHD with my projects today.

I wasn't completely sure what I was doing with this when I started it, but I think it's pretty. Lyrics, again, are from Regina Spektor.

Tried something a little different with this, and I have two of them because I couldn't decide on the colors. Tell me which you like best?

So, I went ahead and redid everything in html tables. It took me forever, especially since I decided to redo the color scheme and add another image--which wasn't already made. Of course, what happens when I post the code in? All my colors are gone! The images and text are in nothing but a white background.

I give up. It's staying that way. *sigh*

At least it's still pretty, even without the colors.

Edit: Uhg. You can see the faintest outline of the corners in the bottom picture. I'm going to have to do fix that and reupload it. But not. right. now. Ugh.

Yesterday I got the idea to redo my profile page, add some images and make it pretty. So, I did this whole table thing in photoshop, with my bio and credits and lots of pretty pictures right there on it, and because I wanted links on it I opened it in ImageReady ad used the slicing tool to create some links. Saved it as an html file and then pasted the coding into my biography.

Didn't work.

BIG blank space.

Great. I've been searching all over the place and I can't figure out how to make it work, I fiddled with the code until I nearly had to start over and I still can't make it work.

Finally I gave up and just pasted it as an image, but I really want the links to work. *sigh*

I'm going to have to do this in tables aren't I? Which means I'm going to have to brush up on all that html crap that I've forgotten, and struggle with another html editor. *sigh* I don't want to that.

Anybody know how to get it to work??

So, I went ahead and rewatched the rest of season 1 of Doctor Who--plus the Christmas Special. And you know, every time I get to the end of Parting of the Ways I'm always just as sad as the first time I watched it. I loved Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor. But then, it only takes the first few moments of David Tennant talking in front of the Sycorax to make me fall in love with Ten again. :) This upcoming regeneration is going to be rough--the first time I ever watch when it actually happens on the show, rather than years afterwards when I've already seen episodes with the next Doctor.

Anyway, I made another banner. This one for Parting of the Ways. I should probably be writing--I still have several drabbles (ficlets) that I owe to people and I need to get started on my chapter story I have planned, but I can't seem to get the motivation. I feel very lazy, and making graphics is relaxing for me. I stress out over my writing. But don't worry, I won't be able to ignore my word processing program for long.

Oh! and look! Rounded corners! It took me ages to learn how to do this, and when I finally did I couldn't figure out how to make the corners transparent. Finally, I just zoomed in and erased the corners pixel by pixel. If someone knows of an easier way, please let me know. :)

Enough rambling. On to the banner.

Rewatched The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances today. Made a few banners to afterwards. I like the Jack/Rose one the best, though, by trying to keep the sort of dark, brown tinged style that the episodes had, I think I made them sort of look like they're floating in smog. How lovely. Ah well, at least I'm getting better at blending without a mouse or a tablet. Now if I could only learn to draw with the itty bitty touch pad I'll be all set.

Finally, a professional. )
