I had the weirdest Buffy/Spike reunion dream last night. With like, touches of Dollhouse in it.
So, Somone or Something wipes the memories of every person on earth. Everyone. All of a sudden, people have no idea who they are or any idea who the people are around them. (Think Tabula Rasa.) Except, a few people, who have like, connections to the Supernatural or something (Like say, a witch or a vampire or a slayer) start to slowly get their memories back. Just like, brief glimpes or episodes of deja vu, as those memories start to return--all usually connected to intense emotion.
Also, for some unexplained reason in this dream, some people are actually being implanted with memories and personalities (that's where the Dollhouse touches come in). So we end up with three different versions of Spike and Buffy in the world. Two versions of Spike with implanted memories, and two version of Buffy with implanted memories, and the original Spike and Buffy who are struggling to remember who they are.
So, the reunion scenes:
An Implanted!Spike (Wow, that makes him sound like he got a boob job or something.) recognizes real Amnesiac!Buffy, and tries to tell her both who she is and who he is. And while the things he says does ring a bell for her, she doesn't trust him because the face he has doesn't match up with the face she remembers, and what little memory she has tells her that the man he says he is is dead. The more she starts to remember the more pissed off she gets, convinced it's some kind of trick. Until they get into some sort of fight (with vampires or something, I don't know) and they fall easily into fighting together. After that, Buffy is finally convinced that he's Spike, and that he's really alive.
An Implanted!Buffy recognizes real Amnesiac!Spike. Since Amnesiac!Spike acts a little more like William, it was easier for her to convince him that she knew him, but he was completely disbelieving of the fact that she cared for him. And, as his memories started to come back, they just solidified that, since most of what he remembered was their fighting, and then later, what happened in Seeing Red. Back to feeling as worthless and hopeless as he did in season seven, Spike finds away to bring back everyone's memories, but only by sacrificing himself. Buffy actually has to chain him up and sit on him to stop him, shocking him into submission by yelling at him that she loved him and she wasn't about to lose him again.
An Implanted!Buffy and an Implanted!Spike meet each other. They don't know who the other one is at first, but they are both obviously trained fighters and have a common goal, so they join forces to take down the people who started the whole memory wiping thing to begin with. It's only as they start talking to do they realize who they other one actually is. Cue dramatic and touching reunion scene here. Working together, they figure out how to give everyone their memories back, and how to erase the implanted personalities. Of course, this means they have to lose each other all over again, but they do it any way, because they have to.
So all three versions are separated again, and there is only Real!Buffy and Real!Spike left in the world, and they have no idea where the other one is. But, Buffy now knows that Spike is alive, and Spike now knows that Buffy really does love him, so they start looking for each other.
All in all, it was a pretty good dream.
