Watched the first part of Children of Earth and oh my god! *flails from the awesomeness*
Wow, where to begin?
They blew Jack up! Gwen is pregnant! Ianto tries desperately to get some promise of commitment from Jack and Jack runs away from it every time!
Oh wait... that one was par for the show.
But seriously, the whole "they called us a couple thing" kind of got on my nerves. 'Cause the only way I can see that going to is an eventual acknowledgment that they are a couple. And I just don't like my Jack in a monogamous relationship. I like my Jack either terribly slutty, or in a threesome. Doctor/Rose/Jack, Jack/Ianto/Gwen... I like it. Which is why my OT3 shipper heart skipped a beat when Jack was all "Ianto! We're having a baby!" Because even if the dad is Rhys, who I'll admit to always finding a little annoying, it was still a cute moment between them.
Speaking of kids...
Jack is a father! And a grandfather! (Totally bypassing the other thing about kids, creepy, chanting kids which I'll get to later.) And I thought he totally acted it to. It seemed real, even if they looked to be about the same age. But him wanting to experiment on his grandson... *shakes head*
You know, it is so interesting to look at the differences between Torchwood and Doctor Who. In Doctor Who, the good guy's wouldn't even have suggested that, would have been horrified by it. The Doctor is all about loving humanity and protecting it but everything still rather morally black and white. But Torchwood... I love how it focuses on how things like what they see change them, separates them and distances them from the rest of humanity.
Anyway, back to the episode.
The children were creepy. I totally got chills when they started their "We are coming" chanting. What is it about children that they can be so creepy in films and shows? Horror films use them in their plots all the time.
I actually liked the doctor who they were going to recruit, it's sad he was a spy. And now dead.
I loved the music in this, it made everything feel so much bigger and more serious. In fact, everything about this episode seemed more serious and darker than the past episodes, and of course they are supposed to be darker and more serious than the Doctor Who, and god, I can't believe they tried to kill the Torchwood team! That whole blank page thing... wow. I am sooo curious about all that is going on that it is driving me mad. Thank god I don't have to wait another week until the next episode! And thank you to whoever uploaded this on the net!!
