Just finished watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie). I forgot how much I liked Pike. I was so sad when I started watching the series and they didn't mention him at all. Though I still attribute the first bulky leather jacket she wore in the series to him. (The one before Angel gave her his. Pfff. Stupid Angel, replacing Pike's jacket like that.)

I mean seriously! No mention? Think of all the bad jokes Xander could have made about how Buffy went for guys whose name ended in "ike" or something! All that potential. Just--poof! Wasted.

I have a sudden urge to write a Buffy fanfiction that incorporates Pike into the show's story line somehow.

I don't have a Pike icon so this one is going to have to do. Simply because I love them both and their names rhyme.

I vaguely recall either a tie-in novel or comic that involved Pike coming to Sunnydale, and sort of wrapped up that storyline a bit more. I remember liking him too (although I haven't watched the movie in ages and ages)

Hmmm. I haven't read any of the comics or novels, so all I know is whats on the show, but that totally kills my whole angst filled plot bunny where Pike takes over the slaying while Buffy is in the mental hospital her parents put her in and gets killed doing it--therefore causing her to give up slaying.

Until she goes to Sunnydale of course.

Ah, well. At least he was mentioned in the comics.

I don't think most people consider the novels and the comics (at least, the comics before the S8 Joss ones) canon, and I doubt many people have read them... you should still totally write that fic!

I am a BIG Buffy novel/Comic Buff so I'll try to recap for you.

Pike was in Comic Story lines and one novel.

The Novel was Sins of the Father and the comics that come to mind are The Origin, which was a rewrite of the Buffy movie in SMG form. Viva Las Buffy, Buffy and Pike go to Las Vegas. A Note from the Underground, Pike helps Buffy defeat an Army of demons-Set in season 6..I think.

Ah. Well its good to know he wasn't forgotten in the comics. Even if he was in the show. *sigh*
