So, I was watching "School Reunion" again and I kept thinking that Mr. Finch, the alien principal dude looked familiar. Then I figured it out, he played in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which I'd never watched, but knew who played in it. So, I was bored, and thought that a somewhat cheesey supernatural show sounded good at the moment, and started watching it. Starting from season one. (Seven seasons is a lot to catch up on, but then, I did watch all fours seasons of New Who and both seasons of Torchwood in two weeks. Not that I'm going to be watching this at that pace, if I even watch all of them.)

Anyway, six episodes in and I am so feeling Buffy/Giles. Yeah, I know, she's a sixteen year old cheerleader and he's a somewhat stuffy, forty-ish librarian from England, but still: chemistry.

Or it could just be that I have a thing for older men with British accents.

Nah, that can't be it.

:P

So, just finished the finale of season one, definately think I'll continue on with season two, which I've heard is supposed to be better. :)

Few thoughts:

--Of course the season finale, and the grand apocolyptic battle happens on the night of the dance. That's what everyone's life revolves around anyway, right? *rolls eyes* Though, remembering the movie and how it ended, I've got to at least say it was true to form.

--The Master's dead and I'm rather sad because for some reason, I really liked him, though everytime I saw him I was like, "Oooh! Voldemort!" (Especially at the very beginning of the season when you see him rising from the pond like thing, I was seriously having flashbacks from Triwizard Tournament.)

"You have punch mouth." Hehehehe.

--Still don't like Angel much. I just don't think he has much of a personality. Yeah yeah, emotionally tortured vampire with human soul, lurking in corners and giving cryptic warnings while staring at his fobidden love with a sad puppy dog face, and of course the main character is supposed to fall all over him, never mind the fact that she's barely had a conversation with him that has lasted over two minutes. *sigh* Maybe he'll get a personality further on in the series.

I did think the part where they kissed and he had the cross burned into his chest was cool though.

--I really liked Xander in the finale. His bitterness in the face of her rejection ("I'll just go home, and listen to country music. The music of pain.") and his determination to save her (even if it meant getting the help of the person she loves instead of him) made me go "Aw" and the conversation between him and Angel when they were going underground cracked me up.

"You were looking at my neck!"

"What?"

"You checked out my neck! I saw it!"

"I was not looking at your neck."

"I told you to eat before we left."

Hahaha. Oh, Xander.

--And finally Giles. I love Giles. I just find him adorable, with his glasses and his suits and his fast talking and hatred for cheerleading and computers, and his love of the smell of books (I LOVE the smell of books) and his nightmares about not being able to read... I just love him.

Yup. LOVE.

And then of course there's the fact that his worst nightmare is Buffy's death ("I failed in my duty to protect you." Awww.), and the expression on his face at the beginning of Prophecy Girl and he sees Buffy for the first time after reading about her fate, and the way he says her name. I totally squeed when I saw that part.

And when she finds out about the Prophecy (capital letter and everything) I thought his expression was so much more heartbreaking than Angel's. (Maybe because he's a vampire and that's not his "true" face he only has the one expression? 'Cause it certainly hasn't seemed to change much over the season)

I remember watching an episode or two while it was airing a few years ago, and not being too impressed, but I'm liking it now. Maybe the episodes I watched just didn't have enough Giles. :)
