Buffy: Post Season One thoughts.

So, just finished the finale of season one, definately think I'll continue on with season two, which I've heard is supposed to be better. :)

Few thoughts:

--Of course the season finale, and the grand apocolyptic battle happens on the night of the dance. That's what everyone's life revolves around anyway, right? *rolls eyes* Though, remembering the movie and how it ended, I've got to at least say it was true to form.

--The Master's dead and I'm rather sad because for some reason, I really liked him, though everytime I saw him I was like, "Oooh! Voldemort!" (Especially at the very beginning of the season when you see him rising from the pond like thing, I was seriously having flashbacks from Triwizard Tournament.)

"You have punch mouth." Hehehehe.

--Still don't like Angel much. I just don't think he has much of a personality. Yeah yeah, emotionally tortured vampire with human soul, lurking in corners and giving cryptic warnings while staring at his fobidden love with a sad puppy dog face, and of course the main character is supposed to fall all over him, never mind the fact that she's barely had a conversation with him that has lasted over two minutes. *sigh* Maybe he'll get a personality further on in the series.

I did think the part where they kissed and he had the cross burned into his chest was cool though.

--I really liked Xander in the finale. His bitterness in the face of her rejection ("I'll just go home, and listen to country music. The music of pain.") and his determination to save her (even if it meant getting the help of the person she loves instead of him) made me go "Aw" and the conversation between him and Angel when they were going underground cracked me up.

"You were looking at my neck!"

"What?"

"You checked out my neck! I saw it!"

"I was not looking at your neck."

"I told you to eat before we left."

Hahaha. Oh, Xander.

--And finally Giles. I love Giles. I just find him adorable, with his glasses and his suits and his fast talking and hatred for cheerleading and computers, and his love of the smell of books (I LOVE the smell of books) and his nightmares about not being able to read... I just love him.

Yup. LOVE.

And then of course there's the fact that his worst nightmare is Buffy's death ("I failed in my duty to protect you." Awww.), and the expression on his face at the beginning of Prophecy Girl and he sees Buffy for the first time after reading about her fate, and the way he says her name. I totally squeed when I saw that part.

And when she finds out about the Prophecy (capital letter and everything) I thought his expression was so much more heartbreaking than Angel's. (Maybe because he's a vampire and that's not his "true" face he only has the one expression? 'Cause it certainly hasn't seemed to change much over the season)

I remember watching an episode or two while it was airing a few years ago, and not being too impressed, but I'm liking it now. Maybe the episodes I watched just didn't have enough Giles. :)

the season 1 finale was ok. the season 2 finale is heartwrenchingly awesome/awful. also, season 2? has spike.

also, david boreanaz's expression or lack thereof is a running joke in our household. "Hi. My name is David Boreanaz. And I think Keanu Reeves is a GREAT actor."

However, he's phenomenal in Angel. He isn't given nearly as much to work with in Buffy because he's supposed to be the Brooding Love Interest(TM).

Haha. I am looking forward to Spike. I remember him in one of the episodes I watched before, and when I started the show I had to look him up to see when he finally came in. Only three more episodes to go!! (I think.)

Seasons 2 pwns Season 1 (actually, S1 is by far the weakest- they were finding themselves) and has some great Giles episodes. And Spike is totally made of win.

I to this day am not much of an Angel fan- I never liked David Boreanaz as an actor until I saw him on Bones.

OMG... I just realized... I was looking thru my flist [for like... the first time ever]and I realized you haven't watched the glory that is Buffy and Angel!?!?!?!? ::dies:: I'm one of the biggest Buffy/Angel geeks you will ever meet. >_< Angel is a pretty weak character in most of Buffy, he really only finds himself once he has his own show. Like the Wesley character, who is really just a big loser for the longest time, until suddenly BAM!!! he's all bad ass and wears leather and is really fucking awesome! LOL, sorry, I'm ranting. >_< Anyway, I totally encourage you to continue watching the show, and I doubly encourage you to watch Angel as well. ^_^ There is much totally wicked and amazing fanfic to be read in these verses. XD
