Spike was clearly abused by Buffy. Part of the abused/victim thought process sometimes entails thoughts of: 'i deserve what i'm getting'... or 'if i was 'better/worthy' she wouldn't hit me/hurt me/use me'....
did he want her? yes. was he love's bitch? yes. did he use her desire to 'feel' as a way to keep her? yes. was he abused by her? yup.
i don't excuse the abuse... just detailing it.
and i wonder... kinda maybe... if the FACT that she knew she was being abusive to him, HELPED her excuse/forgive spike's almost rape.
