So I've spent the last few days working on coloring this Merlin portrait. I think it turned out alright, even though it kinda looks like he's pursing his lips, and I didn't mean for him to be. In any case, I like it better than the pencil version.

Now, I just need to do one of Arthur. Possibly Morgana. And Gwen.
Bradley James is a Labyrinth fan, which, for those of you who don't know, is my favorite movie of all time. &hearts

Can I just marry him now, please?

So yeah, I might have spent too long today going through youtube videos of behind the scenes stuff from Merlin, but I have seriously fallen in love with this show, and I only wish that I hadn't gotten into it so soon, or that it was a summer show, because season 3 doesn't come until September so I now have to wait just as long for it as I do Supernatural.

*sigh*

That doesn't help the whole making-it-through-the-hiatus thing.

It's been a while since I've really drawn anything, that small sketch of Jensen not counting, and this took me a while last night. Mostly because I couldn't find my regular set of drawing pencils and had to use the small set someone bought me forever ago and it didn't have a pencil sharpener. Shading was a little difficult after a while.

Also, I still don't have a scanner, so I had to take a picture with my camera, which seriously reduced the quality. I enhanced it a bit in photoshop, so it's not too faded looking or anything, but it does look much better in real life. Sucky shading skills aside.

Anyway, here's a preview:

So, I've added a Merlin banner to the rotating header line up. Used two of the promotional shots because they were huge and shot against a plain gray background which made them beautifully easy to edit with.

Here's a smaller version of it for anyone who's interested and doesn't want to refresh my journal page a million times until it comes up. (Like I had to to do so I could see how it looked.)

So, I'm only four episodes into season 2, and I have to say, as much as I'm enjoying this show, I'm not really digging how they're handling the romance in it this season. Last season I thought it was cute--tentative flirting, banter, awkward moments--all good stuff there. Now it just seems very abrupt and over the top. Especially Lancelot. All his conversations are so dramatic and flowery they make me cringe.

Also, I sometimes think the score is a little over-dramatic, especially when coupled with excessive slow motion scenes.

All this is balanced by several good things though: the banter scenes between Arthur and Merlin (there needs to be more!), the strong friendship between Morgana and Gwen, and just Morgana's story line in general--her unsteady relationship with Uther, her developing powers, the weird/creepy bond thingy she has going on with Mordred. I'm interested in how this is going to pan out.

These things make the annoying romance stuff a little easier to deal with.

Anybody on my flist involved in the Merlin fandom? I've recently started watching it and am craving some Merlin fanfiction, specifically of the Merlin/Arthur variety. Anybody have some recommendations?

I'd prefer them not to have spoilers for season 2, since I've just started it, but if they do I'll just keep 'em in mind for after I finish this season.

So can anybody help me out?
